ScrollMDMedical research, reel-style

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 July 2026

ScrollMD ("the app," "we," "us") presents educational summaries of open-access medical research. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your choices. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the app.

The short version

Information we collect

If you continue as a guest: we create an anonymous account identifier (a random ID) so your saved papers and activity work on your device. It is not tied to your name or email.

If you sign in with Apple or Google: we receive a user identifier and, depending on your choice, your name and email address. With Sign in with Apple you may use "Hide My Email," and we will only ever receive a private relay address. We use this only to create and secure your account.

Content you create: the likes, comments, and saved papers you generate in the app are stored and linked to your account identifier. If you set a profile picture, the image is stored (compressed) with your profile.

What is public: ScrollMD has social features. Your handle, profile picture, and the studies you like, comment on, or share are public — they appear on your profile and to other users (for example, in a study's "liked by" list). The studies you save are private and visible only to you. Do not post anything in a comment or profile that you wouldn't want to be public.

Search and reading activity: when you search or open the feed, your query and the paper identifiers are sent to the public research database (Europe PMC / PubMed) to fetch results. When you request an AI summary, the public abstract text of that paper is sent to our summarization service. We do not attach your identity to these requests.

We do not collect your contacts, photos, precise location, health records, advertising identifiers (IDFA), or analytics about how you tap through the app.
